The Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa located in the heart of downtown Stamford is currently looking for a Sales Manager to join our team As corporate and leisure business is on the rise, the Stamford Marriott is in search of the right individual to assist the team with their expertise in hotel sales Previous Marriott sales experience and CI/TY knowledge a must. MAJOR FUNCTION: To meet or exceed the annual rooms revenue budget by soliciting and booking all groups, banquet, food, beverage and meeting room rental business. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times and anticipate and exceed guest expectations Communicates effectively with customers, associates and managers Actively upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity Achieves personal and team related revenue goals Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery Proactively identifies, qualifies and solicits new group/catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals Understands the overall market- competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc. and knows how to sell against them Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts Promptly send proposals, contracts and other sales correspondence Accurately confirm all bookings, quotes and negotiate rates while adhering to hotel rate structure, credit policies and general hotel policies and procedures Research markets in order to identify potential sources of business and increase market share In close contact with client or group while in house in order to ensure satisfaction and also to enable re-solicitation for future business Involved with guest feedback in order to maintain product need and standard of hotel performance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance Must be able to sit up to 8 hours per shift OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must wear business attire. For men, jackets and ties. For women, suits either pant suits, skirts, dresses. No casual wear. Closed toed shoes and pantyhose. including name badge provided by the hotel. Greet guests and provide guest service in a professional and courteous manner. Must have regular and predictable attendance. Strong communication skills, both written and oral Strong computer skills (Microsoft products) Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures Perform any duties as assigned by Director of Sales The difference between being a good business and an amazing business can be found in the company's footprints made by giving back and serving others.
